TruexCullins has completed a comprehensive master plan for the aviation services buildings at the south end of the Burlington International Airport. Our primary client, Heritage Flight, a private charter airline and aviation service provider is central to this commission. The first phase of this master plan build-out is the complete renovation of a vacated 1955-era hangar of some 60,000 sf. Heritage Flight is undertaking a complete gut renovation and completely rebuilding the envelope systems, vertical circulation, HVAC, electrical, and interior fit-up and finishes. It will function as the maintenance hangar for other general aviation aircraft that visit Burlington and require scheduled or unscheduled service. It will also house a public terminal for general aviation, called the Fixed Base Operation (FBO). Additional space will be added to create a dramatic public lobby that addresses the runway. To the east of the renovated hangar a new two-story, 12,000 sf addition is planned that will house the U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) Burlington Inspection Facility. The project is on track to attain a LEED Silver Certification, and is currently registered with the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC).
