This beautiful multigenerational family compound uses cutting edge and traditional green strategies to keep energy use low. It consists of two houses connected by a south facing glass walkway. The walkway serves as a collector of solar energy, which heats the houses in the wintertime. There is also a geo thermal system, which uses groundwater to heat and cool the building. The exterior walls and roof are super insulated with closed cell polyurethane foam, and the windows are triple glazed.
